How it works
Why your skin looks different under UV
Under 365nm UV light, your skin looks completely different. Drag the line to compare.
- Orange-red dotsShow up in pores for many people, especially on the nose, chin and forehead.
- White flecksDry, flaky skin, lint or leftover product.
- Darker areasWhere your sunscreen is. Freckles and sunspots can look darker too.
- Bright patchesSpots your sunscreen missed.

Three things a normal mirror won't show you
- 01 · breakouts
Breakouts and clogged pores, up close
Under 365nm light, many people see tiny orange-red dots in their pores. See what's actually sitting on your skin, not just what a mirror shows.
- 02 · oil & texture
Oil, texture and pores, magnified
The lens and UV ring show your skin's surface in detail a bathroom mirror can't.
- 03 · makeup & SPF
Leftover makeup and missed sunscreen
Check that your cleanse got everything, and see where your sunscreen didn't reach.
Three steps, about a minute
- step 1
Charge it and dim the lights
Charge over USB. Everything shows up clearest in a dim room.
- step 2
Glasses on, short passes
Wear UV400 glasses to look at your own face, or have someone check for you while your eyes are closed. Pass the lamp over a few seconds at a time.
- step 3
Look through the lens
Check pores and texture up close. Sunscreen shows up darker; bright patches are what you missed.
Checking your own face? Wear UV400 glasses so your eyes are protected while you look. Use short passes, never shine it into anyone's eyes, and keep it away from children.
